Biography


Marco Momi was born in Perugia in 1978. He studied piano, orchestral conducting, and composition in several European cities, including Perugia, Strasbourg, The Hague, Rome, Darmstadt, and Paris.

Between 2007 and 2010, he studied and worked at IRCAM in Paris. His works have been awarded in numerous international competitions, including the Gaudeamus Music Prize, Seoul International Competition, Impuls – Klangforum Wien, and the IRCAM-Ensemble Intercontemporain Reading Panel.

Marco has been composer-in-residence at the Akademie der Künste in Berlin, the Fondazione Banna Spinola in Turin, and the Divertimento Ensemble in Milan. He also received the title of Marcello Lotti Italian Fellow at the American Academy in Rome.

His compositions have been performed by prestigious ensembles and soloists, including Ensemble Intercontemporain, Klangforum Wien, Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart, PHACE, Accroche Note, ASKO, Trio Accanto, mdi, Quartetto Prometeo, Trio Abstrakt, Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano, WDR Sinfonieorchester Köln, Matthias Pintscher, Bas Wiegers, Marino Formenti, Ilan Volkov, Clement Power, Michele Gamba, Nicolas Hodges, Matteo Cesari, and many others.

His works have been presented at important international festivals and venues such as Philharmonie de Paris, Musica Strasbourg, ManiFeste Paris, Présences – Radio France, Wittener Tage für neue Kammermusik, Milano Musica, Warsaw Autumn, Gare du Nord Basel, Gaida Vilnius, Wiener Konzerthaus, Venice Biennale, Akademie der Künste Berlin, IRCAM, Ars Musica Brussels, Bang on a Can New York, Wien Modern, Tzlil Meudcan Tel Aviv, Gaudeamus Music Week, and ZKM Karlsruhe.

Marco was co-founder of the collective nuthing, of which he was a member from 2012 to 2016, and he is co-founder of the ensemble Opificio Sonoro. He currently teaches Composition at the Conservatory of Fermo.

His music is published by Ricordi. Monographic CDs have also been released by Stradivarius and KAIROS. As a conductor, he has recorded for Brilliant Classics.
